Board of County Commissioners Highlights - February 20, 2018

PAHRUMP, Nev. Feb. 20, 2018 - The following report highlights several important agenda items from the Nye County Board of Commissioners meeting. The agenda numbers provide links to each item’s backup.

The Board of County Commissioners approved moving the next board meeting to Monday, March 12, 2018, at 10 a.m. in Tonopah (32). The second meeting of the month has been canceled. The change was requested because two commissioners and the county manager are scheduled to be out of town the first week on county business.

There will not be County Commission meetings on March 6 or March 20.

The Commission approved a Cooperative Equipment and Operating Agreement with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry for loaning fire engines to Nye County for training and response to wildfires (41).

The agreement will allow the county Department of Emergency Management to house and train on a Type 3 Wildland Engine and a Type 1 Structure Engine to train for and respond to wildfires. The equipment will be loaned without cost, but all maintenance and repairs will be absorbed in the Emergency Management budget.

The acceptance of two Grant Award installments from the Aging and Disability Services Division for Nutrition Services Incentive Program was approved (2728). The funding will provide commodity food funds for the nutrition program at the Beatty and Tonopah Senior Centers is in the amount of $1,815 and $1,225. No county fund match is required.

The request for a zone change to General Commercial from Mixed Use on 1.1 acres was approved for 3400 S. Nevada Highway 160 (10). The applicant, Mega Motors, has been licensed by the DMV for second hand Auto Dealer for Sales, Leasing and Rental, and plans to operate a car inventory of 20-to-35 vehicles for sale.

The Commissioners approved a Special Use Permit to allow the expansion of a marijuana cultivation facility at 5400 N. Highway 160 (8). The applicant Nye Farm Tech Ltd. plans to add six additional greenhouses and increase cultivation from 1,000 square feet to approximately 13,700 square feet.

A request to issue a Recreational Marijuana Establishment License for a marijuana cultivation facility, at 5101 S. Oakridge Ave. in Pahrump was approved (43). The applicant is Peter Gnecco, Green Cross of America, Inc.

The annual renewal of the Medical Marijuana License for Green Life Productions LLC was approved (44). The facility operates at 1205 S. Loop Road in Pahrump.
