PAHRUMP, Nev., August 21, 2018 - The following report highlights several important actions taken at the Nye County Board of Commissioners meeting. The agenda numbers provide links to each item’s backup.

Board approved two grants from the state's Emergency Response Commission's Planning, Training, Equipment and Operations:
- A $25,000 grant to provide security cameras for buildings and offices, and one chemical detector for members within the Local Emergency Planning Committee. (17)
- $15,975 to provide solar batteries, one portable gas monitor and personal protective equipment for members within the Local Emergency Planning Committee. (18)
An $8,681 grant was accepted to cover overtime and travel related to state Attorney General's Sexual Assault Kit Initiative 2016. (19)
Two contracts for road construction projects were awarded to Wulfenstein Construction. $457,175 for northern county road projects (30) and $991,992 for Pahrump Valley Boulevard (31)
Commissioners extended the cold-mix contract for Wulfenstein Construction, and increased by $250,000 to $1.66 million through June 30, 2019. Will provide an additional 3,030 tons of cold mix for road projects in Pahrump and Amargosa Valley. (35)
Board approved issuing a festival license to the Pahrump Chamber of Commerce for the Fall Festival. The event is scheduled for September 27-30 at Petrack Park in Pahrump. (7)
Bill No. 2018-09 to allow the reduction of separation between buildings on a single parcel from 10 feet to five feet in residential zoning districts was adopted. The change is to take effect on September 10, 2018. (10)
$30,000 was approved to help cover some travel expenses for the Pahrump Valley High School Marching Band to go to Hawaii for a Pearl Harbor event. Funded out of the Town of Pahrump (38)
The lone bid to for Golf Course Management for the Town of Pahrump's Lakeview Executive Golf Course was accepted by the board sitting as the Governing Body of the Unincorporated Town of Pahrump.(14)
